A Cinematic Wedding: Hollie and Charlie’s “Roman Holiday” at Palazzo Brancaccio

In the heart of Rome, among historic rooms, secret gardens and an atmosphere worthy of the silver screen, Hollie and Charlie celebrated their wedding inspired by one of the Eternal City’s most iconic stories: Roman Holiday.

The couple’s chosen theme transformed the reception into a journey through the elegance of 1950s Rome, evoking the timeless charm of the princess portrayed by Audrey Hepburn and the magic of a city to be experienced with wonder, spontaneity and romance.

A cinematic venue

To bring their vision to life, Hollie and Charlie chose Palazzo Brancaccio, the last aristocratic palace built in Rome. Commissioned by Prince Salvatore Brancaccio in 1880, the palace was designed by architect Gaetano Koch.

With its monumental interiors and aristocratic heritage, the residence was the perfect setting for recreating the atmosphere of the cult 1950s film, set in the Rome of the Dolce Vita. The palace is closely associated with the cinematic image of the princess’s residence: an ideal backdrop for a wedding inspired by romantic escape, beauty and the freedom of a true Roman holiday.

Every space helped tell this story. The elegant halls hosted the most formal moments, while the gardens offered guests a more relaxed and convivial experience—like a private stroll through the heart of the Eternal City.

The Lily Happens vision

Lily Happens’ role was to turn the cinematic reference into an authentic and personal experience, without simply recreating the film’s setting.

We developed a concept in which every element evoked the elegance of Roman Holiday: a refined retro aesthetic, understated sophistication, effortless romance and the unmistakable Italian lightness that makes Rome so special.

The challenge was to create a balance between the grandeur of Palazzo Brancaccio and the couple’s fresh, personal spirit. Every detail was therefore designed to celebrate the venue’s heritage while leaving room for Hollie and Charlie’s individual style.

From the overall design and space planning to the selection of trusted suppliers and the coordination of the wedding day, Lily Happens managed every stage of the event. This allowed the couple to experience their wedding with the same sense of freedom and carefree joy as the protagonists of a Roman holiday.

A love story in the Eternal City

Hollie and Charlie’s wedding was much more than a celebration: it was an emotional journey through the Rome of cinema and memory.

Guests were immersed in an atmosphere suspended between past and present, between the grandeur of Palazzo Brancaccio and the charm of a city capable of turning every corner into an unforgettable film scene.

The result was an elegant, engaging and deeply personal event: a wedding worthy of the silver screen, but above all the real love story of two people who chose to experience their most important day as a romantic escape in the heart of Rome.

In the couple’s words

“Choosing Lily Happens was the best decision we could have made. They understood our vision and transformed the Roman Holiday theme into an elegant, authentic and deeply emotional experience. Every detail was handled with professionalism, allowing us to fully enjoy our special day.”
